Designed for audiologists and hearing healthcare professionals, this practical, hands-on course provides the knowledge and competencies required to safely and effectively perform ear wax removal using the innovative OWL visualisation system.

The OWL system offers exceptional magnification and illumination, allowing clinicians to maintain direct visualisation of the ear canal while performing procedures with precision and confidence.

By participating in this course, you will gain the ability to:

• Thoroughly understand and articulate the anatomy and physiology of the ear, discussing common ear conditions and their implications on aural care.
• Clearly define your professional boundaries within aural care, enhancing your ability to identify when referrals are necessary.
• Analyse and compare various equipment and techniques, understanding their principles and recognising any contraindications.
• Assess the effectiveness of different cerumenolytics, making informed decisions in your practice and for your patients.
• Master aural care techniques such as Micro Suction, Irrigation, and Instrumentation, ensuring safety and adherence to the highest standards of professional practice.
• Delve into crucial professional issues such as obtaining consent, maintaining meticulous documentation, and managing ongoing ear care.
• Our course is approved by “The CPD Certification Service” a national independent assessor of quality for CPD courses used by the NHS and various universities.

Prerequisites

 1) Delegates must be experienced in Otoscopy and currently performing it in practice. Delegates who do not meet this criteria will be invited to attend the Ear Examination (Otoscopy) course first.

2) Delegates must be working in the field of Audiology as a Registered Audiologist or under the supervision of a Registered Audiologist, or in a related medical role e.g. ENT or practice nurse.
